Behavior Specialist Certificate

The behavior specialist certificate program provides educators and other professionals with knowledge and skills necessary to work with individuals who are at risk in schools and other environments because of emotional, behavioral, or social challenges. The overall objective of the program is to prepare school personnel and other professionals to provide best practice, research-based supports to individuals, with or without disabilities. Specifically, candidates who successfully complete the certificate program will demonstrate and apply thorough knowledge of characteristics of individuals with emotional, behavioral, and social challenges; implement multi-tiered positive behavior interventions and supports, including individualized strategies across environments; and develop collaborative support plans with stakeholders, including teachers, families, and community service providers.


Admission Requirements

Applicants seeking admission must be graduate students or professionals working in their respective fields. Professionals can enroll as nondegree seeking students. Admission is based on completion of the ECU certificate application and approval by the program coordinator.
