The coastal and marine studies minor requires a minimum of 18 s.h. and is designed to provide students with an overview of coastal and marine resources. Considerable attention is devoted to the biological, physical, social, and historical aspects of coastal and marine resources. Whenever possible, information from North Carolina and other US coastal and marine environments is used to illustrate or emphasize important concepts. A maximum of 6 s.h. may be used to satisfy general education requirements and requirements for the coastal and marine studies minor. A course may not count toward the student’s major and the coastal and marine studies minor.
