Medical Family Therapy Certificate

The certificate in medical family therapy will equip marriage and family therapy master’s students with specific skills and knowledge in the area of medical family therapy, as well as integrated behavioral health care. Students will learn research-informed approaches and critical theories for successful collaboration and integration in a variety of healthcare settings. All students will enroll in three clinical practicum courses which will run simultaneously with their healthcare internship placement experience.

Admission requirements:


Applicants seeking admission can be graduate students enrolled in the marriage and family therapy master’s program or post-degree professionals holding a master’s degree from a Commission on the Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) accredited marriage and family therapy program. Admission is based on completion of the certificate application and approval by the medical family therapy teaching faculty. Students enrolled in the certificate program must adhere to the program standards of the marriage and family therapy master’s program.
