RELI 3400 - The History of the Devil in the Judeo-Christian Traditions

Introduction to the conception of a single personification of evil, “Satan” or the “Devil,” as it was and is understood by the Christian church from nascent Christianity to the twenty-first century. Includes the historical development of the concept of Satan and the range and diversity of interpretations of the personification of evil across time and cultures, along with demonstrating the various ways in which marginalized groups have been and are presently described as agents of Satan.
