GEOL 4650 - Principles of Geophysics

2 lecture hours per week are required. P: PHYS 1250 or PHYS 2350; and PHYS 1260 or PHYS 2360; or equivalents; C: GEOL 4651.

Introduces students to near-surface geophysical methods for mapping the ground at shallow depths. Topics include fundamental principles from major branches of geophysics including gravity, magnetic, seismology, electrical, and electromagnetic methods. Emphasis is placed on practical environmental applications of these methods.
