Middle Grades Education, BS


A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for admission to the program. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. A minimum grade of C (2.0) is required in each of the professional studies and specialty area courses for middle grades licensure.

Minimum degree requirement is 121 s.h. of credit as follows:

1. Foundations curriculum requirements including those listed below - 42 s.h.

4. Academic concentration - 48 s.h.


Middle grades majors are required to complete two academic concentrations appropriate for licensure. A methods course is required for certification in each of the two academic concentrations leading to middle grades licensure. No substitutions for methods classes may be made without special middle grades program approval.

Middle Grades education majors must have a minimum grade of C (2.0) in each of the concentration courses.

A total of 6 credit hours in each concentration, except general science, may be double counted in the foundations curriculum requirements. For the general science concentration, 7 s.h. may be double-counted in the foundations curriculum requirements.
