Health Fitness Specialist, BS

The Health Fitness Specialist, BS provides students the knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop and conduct health and fitness programs in commercial, corporate, public, and private settings. Graduates are prepared to pursue careers as health fitness specialists, program managers/coordinators, personal trainers, group fitness instructors, and sport performance/strength and conditioning coaches. The program is endorsed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). 

To declare this major, students must have a minimum cumulative 2.0 overall GPA and pass the KINE majors’ fitness test. Students must maintain a 2.0 overall GPA to remain in the program. A minimum grade of C- (1.7) in all KINE courses is required to complete the degree. Graduates are eligible to sit for the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
