Women’s Studies Minor

The Women’s Studies Minor is designed to complement the student’s major field by exploring the experience of women in relationship to issues of gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, political structures, and social systems. The graduate minor encourages critical thinking, seeks new knowledge, and explores feminist theory across cultural and disciplinary boundaries.

The minor requires 9 s.h. as follows:

Core course - 3 s.h.

WOST 5000 - Advanced Seminar in Women’s Studies

Electives - 6 s.h.

SOCI 5400 - Seminar in Gender
SOCW 5007 - Women as Clients
WOST 6100 - Special Topics in Women’s Studies
WOST 6103 - Independent Study *
or approved courses at the graduate level*
