Security Studies Structured Concentration, Multidisciplinary Studies, BS

The Multidisciplinary Studies, BS offers a structured concentration in security studies. Students fulfilling the degree requirements are awarded a Multidisciplinary Studies, BS. 

The security studies structured concentration utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to understand and address diverse domestic and international threats to US security. Students learn how to evaluate threats and develop responses at the international, national, state, and local levels. These threats may be posed by natural disasters or by human agency, whether through governments or non-state actors, such as terrorist groups.

The Multidisciplinary Studies, BS (security studies structured concentration) requires 120 s.h. as follows: 

1. General education requirements including those listed below - 40 s.h.


(For information about courses that carry general education credit view the General Education Program  section.)

Note: This structured concentration does not require specific general education courses.

2. Core - 42 s.h.


A minimum of 24 s.h. from sections 2 and 3 must be above 2999.

b. Approved courses in the security studies structured concentration (36 s.h.)


Required writing course - 3 s.h.


Elective courses - 24 s.h.
