Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certificate

The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certificate (TESOL) helps prepare professionals planning to teach English as a second language (ESL) in the US or English as a foreign language (EFL) overseas.
For ECU degree-seeking students, courses counted for majors and minors may also count toward the certificate. Students seeking only a certificate should consult with the undergraduate program director to determine eligibility and to discuss required prerequisite coursework. Both degree-seeking and certificate-seeking only students must earn grades of C or higher in all certificate courses in order to remain in the program and successfully complete it.
