The Business and Technical Communication Certificate provides students with opportunities to develop analytical and practical skills in planning, writing, designing, editing, and managing a range of professional texts for print and digital publication.

The certificate program is open to both ECU degree-seeking students and students seeking only a certificate.

Courses counted for majors and minors may also count towards the certificate for ECU degree-seeking students. Students are informed at the time of admission into the certificate program how many semester hours can be shared with an undergraduate major. Students must add the certificate program and contact the English department prior to taking a capstone course. Other appropriate courses, including 5000-level courses, may be considered for inclusion upon review by the coordinator.

Students seeking only a certificate should consult with the undergraduate program director to determine eligibility and to discuss prerequisite coursework. For the certificate to be awarded, a student must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in the courses completed toward the certificate. Certificate courses that have prerequisites will need to be taken before progress commences on the certificate.

Visit Department of English Undergraduate Certificates for more information.

The certificate requires 12 s.h. as follows:

Note:

With departmental approval, certain other courses may be substituted.
