Ethnic Studies Minor

Program Co-Coordinators:

Ethnic Studies is an interdisciplinary program that examines the histories and cultures of various ethnic groups in the United States. The program investigates the development of communities in local, national, and global contexts and analyzes the cultural and political factors that have influenced these processes and how they have shaped the social interactions of people in the U.S.

The Ethnic Studies Minor requires 18 s.h. A maximum of 6 s.h. may be used to satisfy requirements for both general education and the ethnic studies minor. Study programs abroad having the prior approval of the program coordinator may be accepted for up to 6 s.h. of credit toward the minor. Additional courses may be approved by the program coordinator if they significantly further the student’s understanding of ethnic studies. Departmental prerequisites may be waived in special cases by the department offering the course.
