2025-2026 Graduate Catalog

Policy Changes

1. Revised Policies

  • Leave of Absence Policy (See Academic Regulations ; Residence and Graduation Requirements; Leave of Absence Policy)
    • Removed the current Leave of Absence Policy from the Admission and Readmission section. A revised Leave of Absence Policy has been added to the Academic Regulations section of this catalog. The goal of this revised policy is to increase student success and program persistence, in general, and to provide a more seamless way for graduate and professional students in good standing to leave their program and return to it.
    • Approvals: GC 25-3 as recorded in the 3-17-2025 Graduate Council meeting minutes; FS Res # 25-20 as approved by the Chancellor on 4-28-2025.
  • Official Transcript Requirements (See Admission and Readmission ; Admission to a Graduate Degree Program; Detailed Application Requirements)
    • Removed the request for transcripts from institutions where an applicant may have attended but did not earn a degree unless the applicant is currently enrolled in a degree program with courses in progress. This revision will help boost enrollment by providing cost savings for prospective students from paying unnecessary transcript fees, faster application processing, and more efficient program reviews.
    • Approvals: GC 24-08 as recorded in the 8-26-2024 Graduate Council meeting minutes; FS Res # 24-60 as approved by the Chancellor on 10-08-2024.
  • Probation and Termination (See Academic Regulations ; Academic Eligibility Standards; Probation and Termination)
    • Removed last sentence of current policy since theses and dissertations are graded but not included in the GPA for probation purposes.
    • Approvals: GC 24-10 as recorded in the 9-23-2024 Graduate Council meeting minutes; FS Res # 24-64 as approved by the Chancellor on 11-07-2024.

2. Temporarily Suspended Policies

  • Undergraduate/Graduate Non-Degree Dual Enrollment Policy (See Admission and Readmission ; Early Admission to Graduate Studies; Undergraduate/Nondegree Graduate Dual Enrollment)
    • Suspension is effective immediately while the Graduate School pursues formal policy review and potential revision through the Graduate Council.
    • Approvals: GC as recorded in the 4-21-2025 Graduate Council meeting minutes and approved by the Provost on 4-30-2025.

3. This catalog also includes a section entitled University Policies  for those that impact all ECU students. Revisions have been made to an existing policy and another policy is expected to be revised prior to the beginning of fall semester.
