P/C: HIMA 6060 or consent of instructor. Examination of the use of database systems in health care and health care analytics. Topics include basic concepts and terminology, techniques for analyzing requirements and constructing systems, legal and security issues inherent in health care, querying databases, basic system optimization, maintaining a safe and valid environment, data visualization, and data analytics to name a few. Tools include Gliffy (diagramming), PostgreSQL (database management system), Tableau (visualization), and PyCharm (Python IDE).
