3 lecture and 2 lab hours per week. P: Course in ecology or microbiology; or by consent of instructor. Exploration of the interactions between microorganisms and their physical, chemical, and biological environments. Includes the examination of processes that generate and maintain microbial biodiversity and influence microbial functions and the application of microbial ecology concepts using statistical analyses of biological and ecological data.
