This course examines theories of literacy learning, exploring the pivotal roles that family, school, and community play in cultivating connection, belonging, and engagement for students. Special emphasis is placed on developing effective literacy instruction that responds to the needs of all learners, creating literacy-rich environments, and selecting high-quality children’s literature that nurtures and supports literacy growth.
