Serves as a foundational element of the student’s role as both a physician and as a rural scholar. Designed to promote the academic, personal, and professional success of each rural medical scholar, students collaborate with community faculty mentors who provide an accurate glimpse into the daily life of a rural physician in Eastern North Carolina. Mentorship is provided via multiple avenues that include rural medical scholars program faculty, fellow cohort members, and community clinicians.
