Denise Donica, Chair

The mission of the Department of Occupational Therapy is to provide a high-quality educational experience for those individuals who are committed to enriching the lives of people through the profession of occupational therapy. The program will provide a variety of educational experiences that will: 1) develop an understanding of the power of meaningful and relevant occupational engagement as a means of enhancing participation in life, 2) foster an understanding of the need to balance the use of technical skills and theoretically-based knowledge with clients while being respectful of unique sociocultural contexts, 3) enhance the development of clinical reasoning skills supporting the use of evidence-based practice, and 4) foster the development of life-long learners who have the ability to successfully occupy roles in traditional and emerging practice arenas and to be leaders within the field of occupational therapy.

Program applicants should review the Essential Functions and Technical Standards for Program Admission and Continued Enrollment to ensure they meet the minimum capabilities to perform in the program and profession. This document can be found on the program website in the admissions section.
