Andrew T. Morehead, Jr., Chair

The Department of Chemistry offers the master of science (MS) degree with offerings in five fields of chemistry (analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical) and in combinations of the five fields (e.g., physical-organic, etc.). A professional science master’s concentration is also available. This concentration allows students to pursue advanced training in science while simultaneously developing professional skills valued by employers. This concentration is modeled on recommendations by the National Professional Science Master’s Association (NPSMA). The degree requires a minimum of 30 s.h. of graduate work. Completion of a thesis is required for the thesis option. A major research project is required for the nonthesis option and for the professional science master’s concentration option.
