The mission of the graduate programs in the Department of Literacy Studies and Special Education is to develop teachers’ competencies in the areas of curriculum and instruction, reading/literacy education, and special education. Departmental faculty members are committed to providing comprehensive, research-based programs that prepare teachers who are reflective practitioners, competent researchers, and leaders in their fields of study.
