The reading education program within the Department of Literacy Studies, English Education and History Education provides educators with the opportunity to complete the requirements for the North Carolina A-level and M-level reading licenses. Coursework and competencies for reading licensure include reading foundations, diagnostic/clinical and reading assessment, word recognition, comprehension, content area literacy instruction, language arts instruction, and children’s/adolescent literature. Those interested in considering completing the requirements for reading licensure are advised to contact their academic advisors and/or the Office of Clinical Experiences.
