Program Coordinator: Tonya Cannon (115 Speight Building; 252-737-1689; cannonta@ecu.edu)

The Reading Licensure program within the Department of Literacy Studies, English Education and History Education provides educators with the opportunity to complete the requirements for the North Carolina A-level and M-level reading licenses. Coursework and competencies for reading licensure include reading foundations, reading assessment, word recognition, comprehension, content area literacy instruction, language arts instruction, literacy in diverse contexts, and children’s/adolescent literature. Those interested in considering completing the requirements for reading licensure are advised to contact their academic advisors and/or the Office of Clinical Experiences.
