International Studies Structured Concentration, Multidisciplinary Studies, BA

The Multidisciplinary Studies, BA offers a structured concentration in international studies. Students fulfilling the degree requirements are awarded a Multidisciplinary, BA. 

The international studies structured concentration offers courses from a range of disciplines focusing on social, cultural, economic, and political areas of international importance in our increasingly globalized society. Majors are encouraged to study available modern language offerings and take advantage of study abroad opportunities. Study abroad coursework may be used to satisfy requirements for the major but must be approved by the program director. Additional courses beyond those listed may be approved by the program director if they contribute significantly to the student’s understanding of and appreciation for international studies.

To be accepted into the program, a student must have completed at least 30 s.h. with a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.

The Multidisciplinary Studies, BA (international studies structured concentration) requires 120 s.h. as follows:

1. General education requirements including those listed below - 40 s.h.

2. Demonstrated foreign language proficiency through level 2004 - 12 s.h.

3. Core - 30 s.h.


A minimum of 24 s.h. in sections 3 and 4 must be above 2999.

b. Approved courses in the international studies structured concentration (24 s.h.)


Internationally focused electives - 15 s.h.


Electives must be drawn from at least two disciplines and be above 2999. Students are to consult with the program director to determine their focus areas within the electives. 

4. Minor or approved structured electives - 18 s.h.


A minimum of 24 s.h. in sections 3 and 4 must be above 2999.

5. Electives to complete requirements for graduation.
