The Project Management Certificate prepares graduates for employment as project leaders and managers with hands-on project management experience and the knowledge necessary to sit for the Certified Associate in Project Management Certification (CAPM) or the Project Management Professional (PMP) professional certificate exams. The program offers four courses in topics such as project planning, monitoring and control, execution, team work, leadership, and other advanced topics. The courses can be taken in sequence or individually. No previous knowledge of project management is required to take the group of courses, however, if taken out of order prior knowledge is highly recommended.
Acceptance into the certificate program is dependent upon, but not limited to, one of the following: a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.7; 5 years of progressive professional experience and an undergraduate degree; a graduate degree; or enrollment in a graduate degree program at East Carolina University.
The certificate requires 12 s.h. as follows:

Licensure/Certification Requirements in North Carolina
The curriculum for all ECU Certificates, Degrees, and other Graduate Programs have been designed to meet the licensure/certification requirements in North Carolina and prepare students to sit for licensure/certification exams in North Carolina. The various licensure boards in each state are responsible for setting requirements for licensure/certification in their state. Other states have their own requirements, and you’ll want to make sure your program meets criteria in your home state (or state where you intend to work) before you apply. Search our state Licensure Dashboard to see if the program you’re interested in meets the educational requirements for licensing/certification in your home state (or state where you intend to work).
