Sustainable Tourism Certificate

The Sustainable Tourism Certificate introduces students to the foundations of sustainable tourism and around the globe. Courses in the program introduce students to the economic, environmental, and socio-cultural aspects of tourism. Through the exploration of sustainability concepts and practices, the certificate helps students acquire knowledge and develop critical thinking skills needed by managers to work effectively to develop sustainable tourism operations and organizations that consider the impacts on and interactions between the economy, the environment, the local community, and the tourist.

Acceptance into the certificate program is dependent upon, but not limited to, one of the following: a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.7; 5 years of progressive professional experience and an undergraduate degree; a graduate degree; or enrollment in a graduate degree program in the UNC system.
