The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certificate is designed for qualified candidates who wish to further their education in the field of teaching English to speakers of other languages. This certificate program prepares professionals planning to teach English language learners (ELLs) in public/private sectors in the US or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in such contexts overseas. This certificate is available as a distance education (online) program .

Admission Requirements
Applicants seeking admission to this program must hold a BA, BS or an equivalent degree from an accredited college or university in the US or overseas. Nonnative speakers must submit an acceptable score on one of the language tests approved by the Graduate School or have evidence of at least 1 year of college/university study in the United States. Students interested in pursuing the certificate can enroll in the certificate only or can pursue the certificate while enrolled in an ECU graduate program. Admission is based on completion of the ECU certificate application and approval by the program coordinator.
