The Physical Education Clinical Supervisions Certificate provides licensed physical educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully provide clinical supervision for physical education teacher candidates and practicing physical educators. Candidates who complete the certificate will have the knowledge and skills to (1) understand the role of mentoring and reflective teaching necessary for supervising teacher candidates and practicing physical educators; (2) implement a wide range of reflective practices that enhance teaching creativity and diversity in physical education; (3) foster effective instruction emphasizing current technology implementation; and (4) prepare teacher candidates as advocates and leaders who will work collaboratively with families, related service specialists, and other specialists to facilitate student academic achievement and skill development.
Professionals can enroll as a certificate graduate student or be enrolled in the Physical Education, MAEd or the Exercise and Sport Science, MS pedagogy concentration. Graduate-level course work will be applicable to the MAEd or the MS programs. Admission is based on completion of the ECU certificate application or the Add a Certificate Form if already in a degree program, and approval by the program coordinator.
