The Clinical Ethics Certificate equips current and future healthcare practitioners with the skills to navigate the complex ethical issues in patient care. In a rapidly changing healthcare landscape, marked by advances in medical technology, diverse patient populations, and an aging US population, this program is essential for providing advanced training in ethical decision-making. It prepares students to address these challenges through an in-depth understanding of moral theory and principles (including autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice) and their application to decision-making in clinical practice. This program uniquely provides a systematic and experiential approach to resolving ethical dilemmas that benefit patient care.
While the primary audience for the Clinical Ethics Certificate is clinicians, it is also highly beneficial for other healthcare professionals, including hospital administrators, hospital attorneys, social workers, chaplains, and more. The certificate is designed to attract stakeholders in the US and internationally who are interested in ethical issues in clinical and research environments.
