The Biomedical Science, PhD/Business Administration, MBA dual degree program focuses on giving anatomy and cell biology doctoral students the necessary skill set for successfully integrating scientific research and business. Whether managing a research lab in academia or industry or working in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sectors, the understanding of fundamental financial, management, and organizational practices is essential.
PhD/MBA dual degree students have 13 business classes to complete along with the core courses as part of the PhD curriculum, which includes 5 classroom-based courses and required seminars, and research hours.
Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the university and both the doctoral and master’s degree programs. Students are typically accepted into one program and later admitted to the dual degree program. Applicants must apply to and be accepted by both programs individually before beginning the dual degree program. An application to the Graduate School must be submitted for each degree. The application fee need only be paid once.
Students admitted to the dual degree program are required to meet with both program coordinators to develop a program of study and to discuss opportunities for sharing credits that will count towards both degrees.
Students will receive the MBA upon completion of the PhD degree.
