Integrated Bachelor/Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

The integrated bachelor/master of science in mechanical engineering is initiated while undergraduates are completing the bachelor of science in engineering degree and is intended for outstanding engineering undergraduates who have worked with a thesis advisor during their undergraduate studies. Graduate student course work begins in the students’ fourth year of undergraduate study and is completed with one academic year of study beyond the bachelor’s degree. A full year of study beyond completion of undergraduate engineering requirements is required to complete the program. Engineering students apply to the program after completion of a minimum of 80 eligible undergraduate credit hours, and enter the program after completion of a minimum of 95 eligible undergraduate credit hours (a minimum of 128 credit hours is required for the bachelor of science in engineering degree). The minimum GPA at the time of admission and entry to the program is 3.5.

Admission
Students applying to the integrated bachelor/master of arts in mechanical engineering program will go through the regular graduate application process with the following exceptions:
• On the online graduate application form students will indicate that they are applying to an “Integrated program”.
• A supplemental form will be completed with a faculty advisor listing the graduate courses to be counted towards both degrees, the intended date of completion of the undergraduate degree requirements, and the intended semester of assistantship eligibility.
• Personal statement should address applicant’s specific interest in mechanical engineering graduate education and the integrated program.
