Program Coordinator: Leigh Cellucci (4340-T Health Sciences Building; 252-744-6072; celluccie@ecu.edu)

Admission to the BS in health services management program requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and an application. Applications should be submitted when the student is nearing completion of general education requirements. Undergraduate students interested in pursuing master’s level professional degrees in allied health disciplines are encouraged to seek academic advisement as freshmen.

Majors must earn a minimum grade of C (2.0) in all general education, cognate and core courses before progressing on to subsequent courses in the HSMA curriculum. A student earning a grade below C (2.0) in any of these courses must petition the Department of Health Services and Information Management for probationary continuation. One grade below a C (2.0) will result in the students having to repeat the course. Two grades below C (2.0) will result in students being placed on program probation. Students on program probation in the major will not be able to take HSMA 4903, HSMA 4904, HSMA 4905, or HSMA 4906. Three grades below C (2.0) will result in dismissal from the HSMA program. Appeals of dismissals must be made in writing to the Student Affairs Committee of the Department of Health Services and Information Management.

Minimum degree requirement is 120 s.h. of credit as follows:

1. General education requirements including those listed below - 40 s.h.

(For information about courses that carry general education credit see General Education Program.)

Note:

* Students have the option of taking any combination of HSMA 4903 , HSMA 4905 , and HSMA 4906  for a total 3-6 semester hours of credit instead of taking HSMA 4904.
