The classical studies minor is an interdisciplinary program in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences. The minimum requirement is 18 s.h., which includes required courses in history and either Latin or Greek. The program, with electives in archaeology, art, classical studies, English, foreign languages, history, philosophy, and religious studies, is designed to encourage students to study all aspects of the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome. A maximum of 6 s.h. may count toward the classical studies minor from courses used to satisfy general education requirements. Additional courses beyond those listed may be approved by the director if they significantly advance the student’s understanding of classics. No semester hours counted toward the student’s major may count toward the classical studies minor. In many cases, prerequisites for courses listed below will be waived by the constituent departments.
