Forensic Science Minor

The Forensic Science Minor is interdisciplinary in nature and focuses on criminal investigation, crime scene investigation, and the management of criminal evidence. The minor is a natural complement to the criminal justice major, but would also benefit students in related fields such as anthropology, political science, psychology, and sociology.

To be admitted to the minor in forensic science, students must complete JUST 1000 with a grade of C (2.0) or higher and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA throughout the program and earn a C (2.0) or higher in all JUST courses.

The minor requires 24-26 s.h. as follows:

1. Core - 15 s.h.

JUST 1000 - Introduction to Criminal Justice
JUST 3007 - Criminal Investigation
JUST 3020 - Introduction to Forensic Science
JUST 3022 - Crime Scene Investigation
JUST 3023 - Forensic Impressions and Markings
Substitute core courses may be approved by the chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.

2. Electives - 9-11 s.h.

BIOL 2130 - Survey of Human Physiology and Anatomy
CHEM 2750 - Organic Chemistry I and
CHEM 2753 - Organic Chemistry Laboratory I
