Students must be admitted to the School of Theatre and Dance prior to pursuing a minor. Admission may be requested upon acceptance to ECU. Students are required to meet with the School of Theatre and Dance academic advisor in order to apply.

The Stage Management Minor is for students interested in pursuing stage management as a career or as a supplemental career.  Because effective stage management begins with an understanding of all theatrical disciplines, students will begin the minor by studying all facets of theatre technology and design through coursework that includes lectures and laboratory experiences. This will be coupled with both introductory and advanced stage management courses.

As they progress through the program, students will work in consultation with a faculty mentor to hone extensive skills relevant to stage management, culminating in a practicum experience on a mainstage production.

To maintain enrollment in the minor program, students must successfully complete a yearly portfolio review.

Please contact the School of Theatre and Dance advisor to add a minor in stage management (reddickk14@ecu.edu). If you have questions about the minor, please contact the program coordinator (rasorc19@ecu.edu).

Students pursuing the BFA, Theatre Arts, stage management concentration, may not minor in stage management.

The minor requires 18 s.h. as follows:
