Coastal and Marine Studies Minor

The Coastal and Marine Studies Minor is designed to provide students with an overview of coastal and marine resources. Considerable attention is devoted to the biological, physical, social, and historical aspects of coastal and marine resources. Whenever possible, information from North Carolina and other US coastal and marine environments is used to illustrate or emphasize important concepts.

A maximum of 6 s.h. may be used to satisfy general education requirements and requirements for the coastal and marine studies minor. A course may not count toward the student’s major and the coastal and marine studies minor.

The minor requires 18 s.h. as follows: 

1. Core - 9 s.h.


2. Electives - 9 s.h.

COAS 5001 , COAS 5002  and other courses may be counted toward the minor; however, the director must approve the course substitution.
