Forensic Science for Crime Scenes Minor

The Forensic Science for Crime Scenes Minor is interdisciplinary in nature and focuses on criminal investigation, crime scene investigation, and the management of criminal evidence. The minor is a natural complement to the criminal justice major, but would also benefit students in related fields such as anthropology, political science, psychology, and sociology. The minor is intended for students interested in careers such as crime scene technician/investigator. The department has additional programming for students interested in crime laboratory careers. 

To be admitted to the minor, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA throughout the program and earn a C (2.0) or higher in all courses for the minor. 

Students interested in the minor should take BIOL 1050  and BIOL 1051  as natural science general education requirements. 

No more than 6 s.h. of CRIM courses used for the minor may count toward the criminal justice major.
