Theatre Design and Production Minor

The Theatre Design and Production Minor is intended for students who are interested in developing their skills while engaging in hands-on design and production experiences in scenery, costume, lighting, and props for live theatrical performances.

Students must be admitted to the School of Theatre and Dance prior to pursuing the minor. Admission may be requested upon acceptance to ECU. Students are required to meet with the program coordinator prior to declaring the minor.   

Students begin the minor by studying all facets of theatre technology and design through coursework that includes lectures and laboratory experiences. As students progress through the program, they work in consultation with faculty mentors to select areas of focus based on their interests and developing skills, culminating in one advanced course in scenery, lighting, or costume.

To maintain enrollment in the minor program, students must successfully complete a yearly portfolio review.
