The Medical Anthropology Minor develops students’ understanding of health and disease from the perspective of human cultural and biological diversity. It is designed to give students the skills to analyze and apply critical thinking to the biocultural basis of health and disease; the sociocultural connection with health and disease, along with providing the practical basis for developing culturally competent health care programs. The framework of medical anthropology uses a biocultural and sociocultural approach.
No more than 9 s.h. of courses applying to the student’s major in anthropology can be applied to the medical anthropology minor.
