Medical Sociology Minor

The Medical Sociology Minor is designed to provide pre-health professionals and other students pursuing careers in medical and health services a needed background and understanding of the social causes and consequences of health and illness. To ensure flexibility in each student’s 18 s.h. program and thus ensure the possibility of coordinating with the major, the medical sociology minor comprises 9 s.h. of core courses that introduce the student to medical sociology and methods of social research. Students will take 6 s.h. of electives related to the sociology of health and medicine and a 3 s.h. social diversity/inequality elective.
The minor in medical sociology is not available to sociology majors (BA or BS).
The minor requires 18 s.h. as follows:
