2 lecture and 3 lab hours per week are required. P: BCHE 3013. Engineering concepts for biological conversion of raw materials to pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, fuels, biological products, and chemicals. Includes enzyme, bioreaction and cellular growth kinetics, bioreactor stoichiometry, analytical characterization of biological products, and design, analysis, selection, scale up, and control of bioreactors and fermenters.
